Subject:           Mount Diablo WaterFall & Lafayatte Paved Hike
From:               John Bondon
We had a very good turnout out last Sunday for the Lafayette Reservoir hike. This time the upper trail appeared dry enough to hike, so the group split up and half hiked the lower paved trail while the other half tackled the (Upper) Rim Trail. Special thanks to Andrew and Howard for leading the Rim Trail crowd! Reports Andrew, " Thanks to Bob for scouting the trail to see if it was doable. Very few wet spots and it was easy to get around them. Great day! "

In last week's email I mentioned about the upcoming Mount Diablo WaterFall Hike coming up next month on April 23rd. Well, for those available this coming Saturday, Paul plans to tackle it this weekend! In case of rain, check with Paul as to whether the hike will still be on. Also be prepared for muddy condiitons (the hike TO the waterfall trail is typically the muddest part). Also wear some good hiking shoes, as the actual waterfall trail itself might be slippery in spots due to the wet conditions.

This Sunday I will be leading a hike along the Lafeyette-Moraga Trail. This is a trail we have done before, but unlike in the past, we will be starting from a different location and hiking primarily a different segment of that trail. We will hike up to Rheem Blvd., time permitting, then turn around and return back. I estimate the hike to be about 4-5 miles each way, so 8-10 miles round trip. It will be a paved hiked with some elevation gain. For those who are not sure you can handle 8-10 miles, I encourage you to come out and join us, then turn around half way thru if you decide not to hike the full length.

Also, note that I've put directions on the website for grabbing a bite to eat after the hike for those interested in socializing a bit afterward.

You'll find more details about these upcoming hikes posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of RAIN, check with the hike leader to find out if the hike is still on. You'll find a contact phone number posted on website.

Happy Trails! :)
