The hiking website has successfully been moved to a new server, so I expect things to improve now that we are off the former box. The site had become a bit unstable due to performance problems with the old server.

The last step in the move to the new box was recreating the Member's Only Email List. For those of you who are subscribed to it, you should have received a brand new Welcome message from the new server earlier today. Do not be alarmed by this email... it was generated as a result of re-adding everyone to the newly created list on the new box. Receiving it will confirm that the new list is working as expected and serves as a reminder tha you are presently subcribed to the list. :) If you feel you should have received such a message but did not, be sure to check your "Spam" or "Bulk Mail" folder to check if it got blocked.

If you are not already subscribed to the Member's Only Email List and would like to be, simply click on the "Modify My Settings" link contained in this email, and CHECK the box next to "Member's Only Email List" to subscribe. Membership in the Member's Only list is completely voluntary and allows for announcements and discussion of hiking related topics without relying on me to pass the information on.

This weekend, Andrew will leads on a "Rain or Shine" hike at Las Trampas in San Ramon. Here are the details:

A short hike of ~4 miles, but the first mile has ~1,000' of elevation gain. After that, it is a walk in the park. This is at the main Las Trampas park, and is very similiar to the Remington hike at the northern section of the park. Half of the hike is paved, so we shoudn't have problems with mud. The top of the ridge is essentially rock. We meet in the parking lot this sunday at 10:30. Rain doesn't stop it. Water and non flush toilets there. Also picnic tables for snacking at the end of the hike. Look for the "old" red Civic Hatchback. If you really want a lunch, I can Lead you to Erik's Deli in San Ramon (a short distance away). Hope to see you.

You'll find more details about this upcoming hike, including driving directions, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.

Happy Trails! :)
