Subject:           Sunday Mount Diablo Summit hike
From:               John Bondon
Hello All,

Last Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day for a hike. Our setting was the Mount Diablo WaterFall Trail. I had hiked this spot the day before to re-familarize myself with the trail, and I have to admit that I was surprised to notice a very dramatic decrease in the intensity of the falls just less than 24 hours later. But a fun and picturesque hike all the same!

This Sunday, our Fearless Leader, Brian plans to lead us up to the top of Mount Diablo, starting from the same location we started from last Sunday. But considering the present weather forecast for the weeekend, this does not look likely to happen. :(

I will send out another email tomorrow if Brian decides to cancel this hike. Should you not have access to email prior to the hike (such as if you are using your work email account), please phone my cell phone Sunday morning for an update as to whether the hike is still on or not. The number is (925) 457-7717.

If the hike IS still on tomorrow, be sure to bring LOTS of water and possibly lunch and/or a snack. Also dress in layers and be prepared for as much as a 30 degree temperature change at the top. This will be a 6 - 7 hour hike and is considered a more extreme type hike (for a "Casual Hiking" group) geared for more ADVANCED hiker types. This is definately not a trail I would recommend for beginners. Having said that, however, the first part of this hike is much like last Sunday, so everyone is welcome to come out and join us. You can simply turn back at any point if you decide you don't want to spend 6 or 7 hours hiking. :)

You'll find more details about this upcoming hike posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. Remember, RAIN CANCELS.

Website UPDATE Work is continuing on the new website. I continue to find bugs, so I am working thru them one by one. I don't want to change over to the new site until everything is working reliably. I hope to have the new site online by the end of the month.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
