My apologies for not sending this out sooner. (And sorry for the previous "false start" email that just went out. I accidentally hit send without meaning to!) I meant to send this email out yesterday, but what can I say? It's been a hectic week! Besides the usual stuff, this week I discovered two new favorite past times to my list of hobbies, not that I really needed anything new to keep me busy! ... NetFlix and a new online first person shooter video game. What better way to kill a bunch of free time than to spend it shooting your friends online and act like a 12-year old all over again?! ;)

Last Sunday turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL day for a hike! Much warmer than I expected, and sunny, clear skies. And the total distance turned out to be 10.42 miles, for anyone counting. I guess when I used to rollerblade that route, it went quicker than walking, so didn't seem like 10 miles!

This Sunday should be much the same. We will hike another paved trail route, but this time in Walnut Creek. Should be a fairly flat route, though I do expect a couple spots to have inclines, as I recall. Part of the route I don't have milage information for, so I can only guess total round trip distance will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-10 miles. But that is only a best guess. Overall I rate this hike easy, suitable for a complete beginner.

This will be a loop hike, which means we will basically be walking a circle and end up at the same place we started, 2-3 hours later.

You'll find more details about this upcoming hike posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.

In case of rain or bad weather, phone my cell phone (number is posted on the web site) for the latest go/no-go hiking information.

Hope to see you all Sunday! :) In the meantime, hopefully you'll be spending your time in a more wiser and much more productive way than I! :)

:) John

Happy Trails,

John
