Thanks to everyone who answered my call for feedback about the idea of moving the Member's Only Email List to FaceBook. I sent a special survey link in my email last week. If you haven't had a chance to respond yet, I'd really appreciate your feedback. It's only 6 questions long and should only take you a couple of minutes to complete. Please visit to complete the survey online or simply reply to this email to let me know how you feel about this upcoming change. And THANK YOU in advance for your feedback!

Ironically the same day I sent my email referencing the Member's Only Email List, a bit of a controversy was brewing on that very list and the emails started to fly. Needless to say, that day was a perfect example of why I must find an alternate solution for the email list. And it does not matter whether the emails are controversial or not. It is routine practice that whenever more than a few emails go out to the Member's Only Email List in a day, the influx of unsubscribes and "remove me" requests start pouring in. Not to mention the bounced non-deliverable emails and the email list cleanup that must be performed for a list that typically sits dormant for months at a time. Needless to say this generates a lot of behind the scenes work for me. And frankly I'd rather spend that time outdoors hiking!

So one thing is for sure, by this time next year the Member's Only Email List WILL BE ELIMINATED. Finding something better, that is easier to manage, is the goal.

In the meantime, if you have contacted me asking to be removed from the email list, I'm sorry but I am swamped right now with other projects and will not be able to accomodate your request for at least a couple more weeks. One reason for the delay is because the script I use to accomplish this time consuming task is broken so I need to troubleshoot it before I can process any unsubscribe requests. I ask those that wish to be removed to do so themselves. Using the modify my settings link contained at the bottom of this email would be the easiest way to change your email subscription settings. Then simply UNcheck the box next to Member's Only Email List to take your self off that list, AND/OR UNcheck the box next to Weekly RSVP Email List to be removed from this weekly email that I send out every Wednesday announcing the upcoming group hikes. If you've already attempted to remove yourself using these tools, be patient and I will process your request early next month once I catch up on emails.

For now the Member's Only Email List remains disabled (turned off) until I am able to catch up with pending requests.

Happy Trails,
