I think we are very fortunate to live and play in the Bay Area. Yes it's an expensive place to live, compared to the rest of the nation,
but honestly, our region has so much to offer, it's hard for me to imagine living anywhere else.
Be it the variety of climates, terrain, culture, and, of course, open space.
If you don't venture outside of the Bay Area it is easy to take what we have for granted.
And far too easy for us to assume that every other region has what we have.
Another group that performs this type of work not only here in the East Bay, but in other parts of the state as well, is Volunteers for Outdoor California. They will be tackling the Sycamore Trail at Las Trampas in San Ramon the weekend of July 23-25. But unlike other service groups, VOC turns this into a full work by day / camp overnight experience. You might even bring the whole family (14 years of age and older) to help out! Las Trampas walkins are welcome but for better planning by the event organizers, pre-registration is appreciated and preferred. For more information visit their website at http://v-o-cal.org/projects/LasTrampas.html.
