Subject:           Brown Hillsides means Summer is on the Way!
From:               John Bondon
Andrew reports of last Thursday's Shell Ridge hike:
There were 11 hikers on our loop hike to Borges Ranch from the Snyder Lane trailhead. We hiked about 4.75 miles with an elevation gain of approximately 900 feet. The weather was very pleasant but we noticed that some of the grass was starting to turn brown. The brown beauty of summer will soon be here.

And Andrew also submitted these comments regarding Sunday's King Canyon hike:
We had 26 hikers on a cool, cloudy day. 2 hikers took a wrong turn but Deta stayed with them and guided them back to the parking lot. Thanks Deta. Always stay in visual contact with other hikers. The Upper San Leandro Reservoir is significantly higher than last year. That's good. Only 3 more Lake hikes left.

Happy Trails,

John
