Message Details Date Sent: March 06, 2009 Subject: Saturday and Sunday hiking this Daylight Saving Weekend From: John Bondon Andrew reports of last week's Las Trampas hike with Howard:
The weather forecast looks good for hiking for the next couple of weekends and this weekend we have 2 hikes offered, thanks to Paul and Andrew. paul says of the upcoming Mt Diablo WaterFall Trail hike on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 AM: " It's time for the spring pilgrimage to the Mt. Diablo waterfalls. This will be a RAIN OR SHINE HIKE so be prepared with proper clothing and shoes. The long range forecast calls for rain in the morning with possible partial clearing by afternoon. The hike will be at a slow to moderate pace lasting about 4 hours with periodic breaks including a lunch break. We will gain 1200 ft. You need to be sure-footed and not have an overwhelming fear of heights. A little mud will be encountered initially. Happy trails!". Andrew says of the upcoming Ygnacio Canal Trail to Contra Costa Canal Trail Loop (paved) hike on Sunday, March 8 at 10:00 AM: "Since Daylight Savings Time is starting, it must be Spring. Let's enjoy it.". Don't forget to set your clocks one hour forward when you turn in for bed Saturday night. Daylight Savings Time officially begins Sunday morning at 2AM. You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. Happy Trails! :) |
