Subject:           Hike Walnut Creek Thursday; Clayton Sunday
From:               John Bondon

For those who enjoy hiking during the week, you have such an opportunity with Andrew TOMORROW morning in Walnut Creek. And don't forget about the pot luck after our hike this Sunday. So bring your favorite dish to share and let's have a little after hike Holiday FEAST! ;)

Ledson Marsh Andrew reports of the Livorna hike last Sunday:

"26 hikers and 1 dog in really dense fog. At times visability was less than 100 feet. I loved it because we had walkie talkies. It was about 5 miles. Howard, Lucy and I led. We Starbucks'd after the hike."
Evan reports of his Thanksgiving Day hike along the Iron Horse Trail:
"It was a beautiful afternoon for a hike. The air was crisp and the smell of fireplaces burning was in the air. After a fun hour of walking on the Iron Horse Trail, we relaxed at Starbucks in Danville. Over hot drinks we enjoyed great conversation. We then continued our conversations walking back. A good time was had by all."
Last Saturday, Evan also lead the Annadel hike:
"We could not have picked a better day. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. It seemed as though there was a spectacular view waiting around each bend in the trail. We stopped at many different places to take pictures and admire the scenery. We didn't see any jumping frogs at Ledson Marsh, but we did see several newts trying to cross the trail. We gently steered them to the side so they wouldn't be trampled. Afterward, we enjoyed Himalayan food and great conversation at Yeti Restaurant in Glen Ellen. It was a great end to a great day!"

Thanks to all our hike leaders for helping us to burn off some of that turkey and stuffing! And now a preview of our upcoming hikes, by the hike leader(s):

Andrew says of the upcoming Mt Diablo WaterFall Trail (Regency Gate) hike on Sunday, December 7 at 10:00 AM: "Autumn is the ideal time to hike these trails. Cool temps and hopefully sunny skys.".

Andrew says of the upcoming Nimitz Way (Paved) Trail - Inspiration Point hike on Sunday, December 14 at 10:00 AM: "I am only taking this trail through life once, so I hope you will accompany me today. It's one of my favorite hikes. I borrowed it from John.".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.
