Unfortunately I lied last week when I said I'd share the previous hiking reports in this week's email. It's past 4PM And figure I better get this email out before those of you left in the office leave for the day. SO NEXT week, I should recap the previous week's hikes ... PROMISE!! ;)

A quick note, however, before I tell you what hikes are in store for this weekend. The Member's Only Discussion Email list is once again temporarily disabled while I investigate why numerous duplicate messages were generated thru it a couple weeks ago. It is unclear at this time whether it was the EBCHG mail server or an unrelated relay mail server on the internet that caused the problems, or the sender's own anti-virus software that is responsible.

So in an effort to prevent the anticipated snowball effect of unsubscribe messages from flooding your inbox, I am disabling the mailing list until further notice.

And now, a preview of our upcoming hikes, by the hike leader(s):

Andrew says of the upcoming Lime Ridge (Arbolado Park) hike on Saturday, July 26 at 9:00 AM: "Please join me on this hike,as I have not seen a number of you in awhile.".

Diane says of the upcoming King Canyon Hike hike on Sunday, July 27 at 8:30 AM: "The Valle Vista staging area is located between the cities of Moraga and Canyon. This hike is approximately 6 miles and is fairly easy for experienced hikers. However, there is a steep climb from mile 4 to mile 5 that is very tough. I would advise people to not attempt this hike unless they have hiked before and feel comfortable with their ability to handle hills, distance and heat. Bring plenty of water and a snack that you can eat while hiking as there really isn't any place to stop. There is limited parking, so come early as I am leaving right at 8:30. Port-a-potty in the parking lot. EBMUD permit required. ".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
