If I had a dollar for each time I've been asked to remove someone from our Member's Only Email Discussion List this week... well, you get the idea. :) It never fails. People sign up for our group, and sign up for the Member's Only list in the process. For months no emails are generated to that list. Then one day a few messages go out... and the unsubscribe requests start flowing in. And with each batch of inappropriate unsubscribe requests directed at the entire list (instead of being directed to just me), a new round of unsubscribe requests starts. And so the snowball effect begins!

I still believe in the value of having this list, so I am not throwing in the towel just yet. I do appreciate the supportive emails and comments I've received in the past few days as well. If you haven't received a personal reply from me yet, be patient, you will!

And if you have emailed either me or the list asking to be removed, please try to unsubscribe yourself first. Use the "Modify My Settings" link contained at the bottom of this email or the "Remove Me Self Service" page contained in the FAQs page on the website. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions that are emailed to you, or your unsubscribe request will be ignored. This is a safety precaution to verify that someone else is not attempting to unsubscribe you.

If all else fails or you just can't figure out how to make it work, please contact me directly. But please contact me, and only me! You can also REPLY to this email to contact me.

If you are counting on me to unsubscribe you, please be patient, and understand that I will get to your request as time permits. But realize if you simply ask to be removed from the list, not knowing what list(s) you wish to be removed from, I will remove you from ALL lists, including this one -- the Weekly RSVP list, which only I have access to send emails to. If you end up being removed from this list unintentionally, please simply either rejoin or click the "Modify My Settings" link to re-subscribe.

Now, back to talk about hiking! Last Sunday kicked off a month long waterfall hiking theme. Unfortunately we should have kicked this off a month earlier. The rain I was hoping would arrive last week never materialized and so the actual waterfalls themselves were a bit disappointing. This Sunday, March 30 at 10:30 AM, is a hike to the Little Yosemite Falls in the Sunol Regional Wilderness. The next upcoming waterfall hike afer that will be the Murietta Falls hike on Sunday, April 6 at 10:30 AM. Here's a preview:
"Join us as we seek out the Bay Area's longest waterfall. This hike has been likened to a steady death march. This hike steepens so much at spots that even fit folks will be gasping for breath. This is not for the faint at heart or newbies, but if you are looking to get your heart pumping, THIS is the hike for you! ".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
