Andrew reports of last Sunday's King Canyon hike in Moraga:
" We had 13 hikers on a beautiful day. It is so cool hiking with a small group of friends. This is what your group is all about. "
Similarly we had 10 hikers for our Round Valley hike as well. At about the 1.5 mile mark we split into 2 groups -- half continuing on the Miwok Trail for the in and back hike as described on the website. The other half ventured up and over the very scenic Hardy Canyon Trail. We will definately have to go back and revisit this spot soon!

Speaking of King Canyon, there is another King Canyon hike coming up, but this one is about 4 hours away. As in the Kings Canyon National Park. We will be hiking and camping the weekend of June 22. Prachi and I will be leading a hike on Sunday. We are looking for volunteers to lead a hike on Saturday morning as well. If interested, please let me know.

If you are interested in joining us that weekend, check out the Information Packet , now available on the website (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). You'll directions to the trailhead, camping and hotel options, as well as tips for what to pack. Check the website and click the link for the " Panther Gap & Mehrten Meadow" hike for complete details.

This weekend kicks off a month long WaterFall hiking theme, starting with the Mount Diablo WaterFall Trail hike on Sunday, March 23 at 10:15 AM. I was hoping for more rain but figure we better do this hike before the water from the previous rains dries up! Then the following weekend, check out Little Yosemite falls on the Sunol Regional Wilderness hike on Sunday, March 30 at 10:30 AM.

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting times and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
