Subject:           Two Sunday Hikes
From:               John Bondon
Andrew reports of last Saturday's Briones Reservoir hike:
We had 28 hikers and 5 dogs on our hike yesterday at Briones Reservoir. Diane, Howard and I led the hike. We eventually split into 3 groups with a leader in each. We kept in touch by wakie talkie. I led the 6 mile group, Howard led the 7 mile group and Diane led the 8 mile group.

Andrew sent me some pictures from the hike, which will be posted soon as well.

We had 20 hikers for Sunday's paved loop hike along the Contra Costa system of Canal Trails. 3 or 4 dogs joined as well, though it was probably too far for one old dog. A beautiful day and great hike!

This weekend you have two hikes to choose from to start your Sunday:

Andrew says of the upcoming King Canyon hike on Sunday, March 16 at 9:00 AM: "The Upper San Leandro Reservoir should be a lot fuller.". Not to be confused with the Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks away hiking and camping trip coming up in June. This Sunday's King Canyon is local ... it's in the Moraga area.

John says of the upcoming Round Valley Regional Preserve hike on Sunday, March 16 at 10:30 AM: "You'll feel like you're driving out to the boonies on the way out there, but once on the trail you'll really appreciate the scenery. Especially THIS time of year! :) Dogs are not allowed on this hike.".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
