Date Change for Kings Canyon Away Camping/Hiking Trip

DATE CHANGE!!! My apologies, but we had to move the Kings Canyon National Park trip back a weekend to June 21-22, 2008. Further details to follow.

Reports from the Field

Helene submitted the follow group pic to share of her February 17th Mt. Olympia Summit/Bruce Lee Spring Trail Loop hike. You can view it online here. Andrew reports of last Saturday's East Bay Regional Park led hike at Las Trampas:
" Yes we had another good hike today. 12 hikers including Cat. EBCH-6, EBRP-6. She showed us real clam shells that were semi petrified. Also, beautiful spring wildflowers."

Upcoming Hikes

A Preview of our upcoming hikes, by the hike leader(s):

Andrew says of the upcoming Briones Reservoir Overlook hike on Saturday, March 1 at 9:00 AM: "This is where we met the wild turkey couple. We could have petted them, but didn't. We did feed them and take their picture.".

Andrew says of the upcoming Mitchell Canyon to Juniper Flat hike on Sunday, March 2 at 9:00 AM: "If we are lucky, the wild flowers will have started. It's probably too soon for the Juniper Hang gliders.".

Andrew says of the upcoming Briones Reservoir hike on Saturday, March 8 at 9:00 AM: "I can't wait to see how much the Reservoir has filled. Bring your cameras.".

John says of the upcoming Ygnacio Canal Trail to Contra Costa Canal Trail Loop (paved) hike on Sunday, March 9 at 10:10 AM: "A paved hike great for this rainy season. Expect little to no mud. This is a dog/pet friendly hike. Kid friendly as well in the sense it is relatively flat, but beware of a few road crossings, including once across Ygnacio Valley Road (at light). Heavy rain cancels. Total distance is approximately 8 miles if you do the full loop, but for those seeking a shorter trek, simply turn and head back when you've had enough. ".

As always, you'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)
