Andrew led our first weekday hike this past Wednesday:
We ended up with 9 hikers and 2 dogs on a really windy day. I almost lost my balance a couple of times. The dogs were the stars of the hike. Sparkles decided to go off trail by 1/4 mile and herd some cows. She is very good at it. Anna decided to romp in the yuchy pond just before the end of the hike. They had fun, and so did we.
Last Sunday, Andrew led the Pleasanton Ridge hike:
We had 34 hikers and 5 dogs today. And what a beautiful SUNNY day it was. We had 6 hike leaders for this hike; Howard, myself, Judith, Will (special thanks), newcomer Barry, and Mike. We snacked at Stephanie's after the hike. At least 12 of us. This was very enjoyable and we will be doing this more in the future.
A Preview of our upcoming hikes, by the hike leader(s):

Peter says of the upcoming Las Trampas hike on Saturday, January 19 at 9:30 AM: "Enjoy an envigorating climb at the start, then great views and easy hiking for the rest of the way. We'll hike Rocky Ridge and part of the Sycamore trail on the west side of Las Trampas from our starting point at the parking lot at the end of Bollinger Canyon Rd.".

Andrew says of the upcoming Del Valle hike on Sunday, January 20 at 8:00 AM: "I know it's a long way to drive. You will not be disapointed. Bring your cameras.".

Helene says of the upcoming Oyster Point from Curry Point hike on Sunday, January 27 at 9:00 AM: "Join us for a gorgeous hike to Mount Diablo's Oyster Point, accessible from the South Gate of Mount Diablo. Bring fluids, lunch, layers, and trekking poles. Form your own car pools with members of the group.".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including starting time and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,

John
