Subject:           Wednesday AND Sunday hikes this week!
From:               John Bondon
First reports from the field concerning last weekend's hikes -- first from Bobbi:
Saturday was the perfect day for a hike. It was crisp and clear so we could see for miles from Briones Crest Ridge. We started with 16 hikers, ended with 17 after Stan found us on the way back and was told later that Barry lead a small harem of women who also were late/lost. So, in all, 21 people who would have been sleeping in got up and out for a lovely early day of hiking. There was mud only on a downward slope that hadn't gotten sun yet but everyone made it without incident. So now we know where all the guys are--hiking with BOBBI!! We had 4:1 ratio of men to women. And the bonus for my first experience as a hike leader with this group was to get help with my computer that had just crashed. Thanks, Mike. DO LEAD HIKES LADIES--the perks are well worth it!
Well if that isn't endorsement enough to lead hikes, I don't know what is! :) Thanks for leading, Bobbi, and for the great write-up about the hike as well! Now on to Andrew's great report from the field concerning both weekend hikes:
Yes, it was a great W/E for hiking. On saturday Bobbi led a nice 5 mile hike with Hike and Bike, and EBCH. Kudo's to her for taking that initiative. We had 18 hikers on a brilliant sunny day. Today, Howard and I led a total of 37 hikers (including us) on a 5 mile hike in Walnut Creek Open Space from Howe Homestead. Will actually took the lead, and the rest of us tried to keep up with him. There were at least 4 doggies, and did they have fun. Many hikers enjoyed the return trip on Indian Creek trail. It follows a meandering creek through riparian woodlands.
Thanks to all involved for making those hikes possible for the rest of us! If you have a hike you'd like to lead, simply click on the Lead A Hike link on the website.

Yes, there is another weekday hike tomorrow, Wednesday. Andrew says of the upcoming Briones Overlook to Inspiration Pt. hike: "Conditions are ideal. We can't pass it up.".

And for your Sunday, Andrew says of the upcoming Moraga Road to Reservoir Rim Trail hike: "Yes, it's my birthday W/E. Please help me celebrate.".

You'll find more details about both of these upcoming hikes posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please check with the hike leader as to whether the hike will proceed as planned.

Happy Trails! :)

Happy Trails,
