Subject:           1500 Members Strong!
From:               John Bondon
Today marks a new membership milestone for our group -- we are now 1500 members strong, with 70 joining in the past month. Welcome to all!

Andrew spearheaded our return hike to Briones Reservoir Overlook last weekend, and files this report:
"We had ~ 25 hikers and 5 dogs for our hike today. It went very well. I wanted to test Diane's idea to split into 2 groups at the start. The fast hikers and everyone else. It worked! Diane led a large group of hikers, and Howard and I led the rest. As expected, Diane and Judith led everybody back to the start. Hike came to 8.3 miles. Weather was perfect. 2 hikers had to return to the staging area at the 3.25 mile mark. I led them back so there would not be any lost hikers. I coudn't have done this if we didn't have 3 leaders."
Thanks for the report, Andrew! And on that note, allow me to make a shameless plug for hike leaders! Needless to say we are always seeking new hike leaders. If you have a hike in mind you'd like to lead, don't be shy -- post it! The more people we have willing to lead hikes, the better our group will be and the more diverse our hike offerings will be. Special thanks to Howard, Diane, and Judith, for co-leading!

A Preview of some of our upcoming hikes, by the hike leader(s):

Andrew says of the upcoming Livorna Rd trailhead to Borges Ranch hike: "The dogs will love exploring the bullfrog pond.".

Diane says of the upcoming Castle Rock hike: "Let's take advantage of this fabulous weather! This hike traverses a creek in many if there is water running in the creek, your shoes may get a little wet.".

Helene says of the upcoming Mitchell Canyon/Burma Road Loop hike: "Take advantage of the cooler November weather to take a long steep hike with a lunch break at Deer Flat. Start at Mitchell Canyon Staging area. From there, we'll hike for approximately eleven miles, gaining 1600 feet in elevation. Arrange you own carpools with members of the group.".

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes, including start times and directions to the trailhead, posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.

Happy Trails! :)
