Subject: Mount Diablo Saturday; King Canyon Sunday
From: John Bondon
Thanks to Andrew and Howard for leading last week's hike to the Lafayette Reservoir from Moraga Road. Another perfect day for hiking! It started out a litte on the chilly side in the morning, but warmed up nicely by afternoon. Though climbing up the hill to get to the Rim Trail helped warm things up a bit, too. :)
This weekend there are two hikes planned. I have tennis this Sunday, so I have decided to get my hiking in on Saturday instead. And with the recent rain, let's give the Mount Diablo WaterFall trail a try (Clayton side of Mount Diablo)! Usually this is a hike we do in or by April, but haven't really had a chance to yet this year given the sparse rain fall we've had so far. I doubt the falls will be flowing too strongly but will be interesting to see how much flow there will be nonetheless. Be prepared for mud, especially for the first part of this hike!
Then on Sunday join Andrew and Howard for a hike at King Canyon in the Moraga area. Andrew says of the upcoming King Canyon Hike: "Temp's are forecast to be in the 80's. This hike is easier than the upper rim at Lafayette Res.". A permit is required for this hike, which can be purchased online.
You'll find more details about these upcoming hikes posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, check with the hike leader to confirm the hike will proceed as planned.
Happy Trails! :)
