Thanks to Andrew for leading last weekend's Las Trampas Peak hike and reports: It was Fab. 5 day. 5 hikers and 5 miles on a beautiful day. We had 2 girls and 3 boys. To my surprise, there were lots of wild flowers at the top of the ridge. Girls lead us to Las Trampas Peak.
Our Pinnacles camping trip last weekend was equally fantastic! The weather was phenomenal, the hiking was a lot of fun, and the views were both breathtaking and surprisingly varied. For those that missed it, I definately recommend you make it a point to visit someday. We were fortunate enough, as well, to meet a very friendly ranger who spent time answering our many questions about the condors and the park. For anyone who is interested, by the way, the next condor release is scheduled for Saturday, April 21st and will be open to the public. For more information, visit http://www.nps.gov/pinn/naturescience/release.htm .
This Sunday is Easter and I have decided logistically it might be too hectic to try to lead a hike. Instead, Andrew has graciously offered to lead another one but on Saturday this weekend instead. Says Andrew of the upcoming Del Valle hike: "This is the hike where I was chased by a male cow who was protecting his family. Fortunately, I was still a runner and could outrun him. I was also hiking by myself (not smart). ".
You'll find more details about this upcoming hike posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.
Happy Trails! :)
