Subject: Las Trampas - To the Comm Tower ... and BEYOND!
From: John Bondon
What an amazing turnout for last Sunday's hike along the north end of Las Trampas Regional Park. A total of 42 hikers departed together up the hill along with 3 dogs, with 3 or 4 trailing the main group by about 10 minutes. Not to mention the LONG line of cars lining Camille Avenue! With sunny clear skies, comfortable temperatures, it was THE perfect day for hiking! Our hike ended up being about 7 miles round trip.
This Sunday we are hiking Las Trampas again ... think of it as a double dose of Las Trampas ... but for our encore we will instead hike the southern end, or most likely the trailhead you are probably more familar with. No hiking permit is required for the bulk of this hike, however, if you have a EBMUD permit, Andrew asks you to please BRING IT! He would like to take us BEHIND the communication tower for views of King Canyon in Moraga. Figure about another 7 miles round trip. Elevation gain should be about the same as last weekend (600-800 ft -- just a guess though). Bring a jacket, as once we hit the ridge it tends to be really windy!
You'll find more information about this upcoming hike posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. Hike begins at 10:45am; RAIN CANCELS.
Happy Trails! :)
