Subject: Camille Lane Hike rescheduled
From: John Bondon
Thanks to Diane for leading the Briones New Year's Day hike. About the hike, Diane reports:
" Unlike last New Year's Day, yesterday was sunny, calm, and spring-like!
We decided to go counter clockwise (passing through the Bear Creek staging area) where we took one 10 minute break, and then we took a little longer break at mile 9 at the junction with the Hampton Trail to make sure that the rest of the group took the correct trail.
3 of us finished the hike in under 4 hours and the remaining 7 finished in under 4.5 hours. The day was absolutely beautiful and everyone appeared to enjoy the hike. The trails, for the most part, were dry. "
This weekend I will lead a hike at Camille Lane. This is a hike in the north eastern side of the Las Trampas Wilderness, starting from a residential neighborhood in Alamo. There is no parking fee, as we will be parking on a residential street. Please park either along Camille Avenue or Ironwood Place. Do NOT park along Camille Lane itself, as this is a private road!
We will hike approximately 3 miles in along the Madrone Trail, then turn around and head back once we hit the Las Trampas Ridge / Calaveras Ridge Trail. Figure about 6.5 miles round trip. I plan to take a more leisurely pace than last weekend's hike, but you are encouraged to take it at your own pace. But plan for about 2-4 hours timewise to complete this hike.
You'll find driving directions for this upcoming hike posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website. In the event of rain, please phone my cell phone (posted on the website) for an update as to whether we are still hiking.
Happy Trails! :)
