For those of you who have not subcribed to our Member's Only Email List, you may not be aware that a trip is being organized to Yosemite for the weekend of September 8th thru the 10th, with the goal of hiking Half Dome in a single day. That's 17 miles of hiking (round trip), with over 4500 feet of elevation gain!! Yes, a tad more challenging that our normal day hikes. :)

We can accomodate up to 12 people and still have a couple of slots open for this trip. We will be camping Friday and Saturday nights, getting up abnoxiously early Saturday (5AM!) to get an early start at Half Dome, then returning Sunday evening/night back to the bay area. The cost for this trip is $50 per person which covers the camping fees and group dinners for Friday and Saturday. Bring your own snacks, breakfast, and lunch.

If you would like to join us and would like more information about the trip, please contact me directly for details.

Special thanks to Andrew for leading last Sunday's hike to Las Trampas Peak. I hear it was a lot of fun, and I'm sorry I had to miss it.

This Sunday, Howard will lead another hike to Borges Ranch, but this time starting from the Livorna Road trailhead. Refer to the website for complete details.

Sadly, I have suffered a foot infection since our group hike to Lake Tahoe, so I am out of commission for a bit. Not sure how I got it or if I stepped on something, but trying to give it time to heal before I hit the trails again. I do plan to make it out to Wednesday's Mission Peak hike, though I may not be able to hike very far.

If you've never hiked Mission Peak (Fremont), I HIGHLY encourage you to try it. It is a really steep hike, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it. In a word, it is SPECTACULAR!

You'll find more details about each of these upcoming hikes posted on the East Bay Casual Hiking website.

Happy Trails! :)
