Event Notes:

Redwood East Ridge Loop

A moderate 7 mile, 1300 ft. elevation hike in EBRPD Redwood Regional Park. We'll first hike up to the East Ridge before descending to walk amongst the stately Redwoods on this 70% shaded hike.

Starting from the end of the Wayside Parking lot, we follow the Canyon, East Ridge, Phillips, Eucalyptus, and Stream Trails to a snack break along Redwood Creek.

Our return takes us back through the Redwoods on Tres Sendas, Starflower, French, Orchard, and Bridle Trails.

The large Wayside Parking lot (on the left before Canyon Meadow) is located at 37.80485,-122.14637
Note: Currently there is no Weekday Parking Fee.

Leader: Joel Schantz

Trail Notes:

The West Loop in Redwood Regional Park has it all: Towering redwoods and douglas firs. Sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and East Bay hills. A gurgling creek in winter and early spring. Different climates. Cool, shady and pleasant in Redwood Creek but hot and sunny on the ridge during the dry season.

Logistics: Round trip is between 7 to 8 miles. The elevation gain from the starting point in Redwood Creek to the highest point of the loop at the picnic tables in Redwood Bowl is 900 feet. The segment of the West Ridge Trail between Redwood Bowl and Skyline Gate goes up and down which adds some extra elevation gain.
