THIS HIKE PRECEDES A POTLUCK LUNCHEON HOSTED BY MIKE CHATFIELD AT HIS RESIDENCE. Please bring a dish for all to share. Mike will provide dishes, utensils and beverages. For information contact Mike at [email protected] or cell phone at 925-202-1910. About a 7-mile 1100-foot elevation gain loop hike from Castle Rock Park. Route will be Castle Rock Trail, Stage Road, Shell Ridge Loop Trail, Briones Mt. - Diablo Trail, Borges Ranch Trail, Twin Ponds Loop Trail to Bullfrog Pond. Continue on Sugarloaf  Shell Ridge Trail, Franco Ranch Trail, Hazard Trail and Foothills Trail to the Livorna Staging Area. Then Alamo Trail, Hanging Valley Trail, Stonegate Trail, Briones  Mt. Diablo Trail, Buckeye Ravine Trail, Shell Ridge Loop Trail and Stage Road back to Castle Rock Park. Meet at restrooms about 1/4 mile from trailhead.

From 24 Fwy take the I-680 N exit on the LEFT toward SACRAMENTO/CONCORD and then exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. From 680 Fwy exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. Turn RIGHT onto Ygnacio Valley Rd and drive 2.2 miles to Walnut Ave (NOT Walnut Blvd). Turn RIGHT on Walnut Ave and drive 1.6 miles to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Oak Grove Rd. From Ygnacio Valley Rd westbound, turn LEFT onto Oak Grove Rd and drive for 1.1 miles to the roundabout. From the roundabout, Oak Grove Rd becomes Castle Rock Rd. Drive for 2.1 miles to the Park. Limited parking is available at the end of Castle Rock Rd but ther is additional parking at the Orchard Staging
