Event Notes:

Redwood West Ridge - up and over Hike

A moderate 7.7 mile, 1300 ft. elevation hike in EBRPD Redwood Regional Park, up-and-over the West Ridge to the Redwood Bowl and back.

Starting from the large Wayside Parking lot (on the left before Canyon Meadow), we cross Redwood Creek and head up the West Ridge Trail. Taking the Baccharis Trail over to Dunn and Graham Trails to ascend to the Redwood Bowl for a snack break.

After our break we'll cross back over the West Ridge on West Ridge, Madrone, Starflower, and Tres Sendas Trails where we head back down Redwood Valley on the Stream Trail.

Leader: Joel Schantz

Trail Notes:

The West Loop in Redwood Regional Park has it all: Towering redwoods and douglas firs. Sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay and East Bay hills. A gurgling creek in winter and early spring. Different climates. Cool, shady and pleasant in Redwood Creek but hot and sunny on the ridge during the dry season.

Logistics: Round trip is between 7 to 8 miles. The elevation gain from the starting point in Redwood Creek to the highest point of the loop at the picnic tables in Redwood Bowl is 900 feet. The segment of the West Ridge Trail between Redwood Bowl and Skyline Gate goes up and down which adds some extra elevation gain.
