Event Notes:

Dan will lead a moderate 5.6 mile 1,200-foot elevation gain loop hike in Hayward's Garin Regional Park. Route will be Ziele Creek Trail, Lower Garin Woods Trail, Vista Peak Loop Trail to Jordan Pond stopping to rest/snack. Return circles around Jordan Pond, to High Ridge Loop Trail, Newt Pond Trail, Old Homestead Trail, back side of Vista Peak Loop Trail, and Ziele Creek Trail back to the trailhead. No bathroom at trailhead but water/bathrooms at the red barn near Jordan Pond. As you drive up Five Canyons Blvd. you can stop at Five Canyons Park for water/bathroom, or as you continue on to Hayward Blvd. you can stop at J.A.Lewis Park for water/bathrooms.

Trailhead is 28111 Ziele Creek Drive, Hayward. From San Ramon via Crow Canyon Rd., left on E. Castro Valley Blvd., right onto Five Canyons Pkwy, then follow Five Canyons Pkwy directions below. From Dublin, HWY 580 West, exit Castro Valley, right onto E. Castro Valley Blvd., right onto Five Canyons Pkwy. and then follow Five Canyons Pkwy directions below. From Oakland, HWY 580 East, exit Crow Canyon, left under HWY 580, first right onto E. Castro Valley Blvd., right onto Five Canyons Blvd. and then follow Five Canyons Pkwy directions below. Five Canyons Pkwy directions: at the first Traffic Circle continue uphill (3rd right) onto Fairview Ave., at the third Traffic Circle first right onto Hayward Blvd., left onto Skyline Dr. (at the firehouse) which becomes Dobbel Ave. at the bottom of the hill, left onto Ziele Creek Drive. Trailhead is next to the house at 28111 Ziele Creek Drive. Lots of street parking across from the trailhead.
