Event Notes:

Dan will lead a moderate approximately 6.5 mile 900-foot elevation gain, loop hike in Briones Regional Park to Russel Peak. Route will be Old Briones Rd Trail, Valley Trail, Yerba Buena Trail, Crescent Ridge Trail, and Briones Crest Trail to the Russel Peak bench/overlook (4 mile point) where we will rest/snack and enjoy the view. Return (2.5 miles) will be Briones Crest Trail, Seaborg Trail, and Bear Creek Trail back to the parking lot. Water/porta-potty at trail head. Dogs welcome, off-leash OK on these trails. Kiosk probably will not be manned so there should not be any fees. Park in lot to the left of the kiosk.

Trail Notes:

Briones' 6,255 acres are home to many animals and birds, which forage on the grasslands or find shelter among the oaks and bays. You may see black-tailed deer, coyotes, squirrels, red-tailed hawks, turkey vultures, and, if you are lucky, other more reclusive creatures. There are gorgeous wildflower displays in season.
