Event Notes:

Dan will lead this moderate approximately 6.5 mile 900-foot elevation gain, loop hike through Oakland's Joaquin Miller Park to Redwood Bowl in Redwood Regional Park. Route will be the Sunset Trail, Sequoia-Bayview Trail, Castle Park Trail, entering Redwood Regional Park at Moon Gate, and onto the West Ridge Trail to Redwood Bowl where we will snack/rest. Return crosses Skyline Blvd. back into Joaquin Miller Park on the Big Trees Trail, Fern Ravine Trail, Chaparral Trail, Sunset Trail, Sinawik Trail back to the parking lot. Water/bathrooms at the trailhead (Joaquin Miller Park Ranger Station) and also at Redwood Bowl. Dogs welcome but must be on-leash.

Trail Notes:

The rustic woodland trails lead you through redwood groves and oak woodlands and across lush creeksides and wet meadows. Dogs are allowed - on leash - throughout the park and a fenced off-leash dog areas for both large and small dogs is available on park property.

Joaquin Miller Park Ranger Station, 3590 Sanborn Road, Oakland. From San Ramon area HWY 580 West to HWY 13 North. Exit Joaquin Miller Road and turn right uphill onto Joaquin Miller Road for 0.8 mile then left on Sanborn Road. Go 0.1 mile to parking lot on your left at the Joaquin Miller Community Center. From Walnut Creek area, HWY 24 West, after exiting the tunnel, HWY 13 South towards Hayward. Exit Joaquin Miller Road but turn left uphill onto Joaquin Miller Road for 0.8 mile then left on Sanborn Road. Go 0.1 mile to parking lot on your left.
