Event Notes:

A moderate, 6-mile loop hike with an option to extend it to 7.5 miles. Route from Bob Pond is Borges Ranch Trail, Shell Ridge Loop Trail and Stage Road to Castle Rock Park. After a short rest/snack stop, return via Castle Rock Trail, Shell Ridge Loop Trail, Buckeye Ravine Trail, Briones  Mt. Diablo Trail, Stonegate Trail to Bullfrog Pond, Twin Ponds Loop Trail, and Borges Ranch Trail to junction with Briones - Mt. Diablo Trail. The shorter hike will continue down on the Borges Ranch Trail to Bob Pond. The longer hike will turn left on the Briones  Mt. Diablo Trail and proceed via the Ridge Top Trail, Costanoan Trail, Sulfur Creek Trail, Flat Top Trail and Hanna Lane Trail to Bob Pond. Water, restrooms and picnic tables at Bob Pond and Castle Rock Park. Dogs welcome, off-leash OK on the trails.

Trail Notes:

Bob Pond is about 0.1 mile before the road ends at Borges Ranch. There are many trails here which provide for a variety of hikes of varying length and difficulty.

From 680 Fwy, take Ygnacio Valley Rd for 2.3 miles to Walnut Ave (not Blvd). Turn right and proceed for 1.6 miles to the traffic circle. Take 1st exit onto Oak Grove Rd and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area. From the east, take Ygnacio Valley Rd to Oak Grove Rd. Turn left and proceed for 1.0 mile to the traffic circle. Continue straight on Oak Grove and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area.
