Event Notes:

A moderate, loop hike of about 6 miles with an 1100-foot elevation gain. Route will be via Borges Ranch Trail past Twin Ponds and Bullfrog Pond, Foothills Trail, Stonegate, Briones Mt. Diablo, Buckeye Ravine, Shell Ridge Loop and Stage Rd Trails to Castle Rock Park. A short stop for rest and snack, then return via Castle Rock, Stage Rd, Shell Ridge Loop, and Borges Ranch trails to Bob Pond. Water, restrooms and picnic tables at Bob Pond, Borges Ranch and Castle Rock Park. Dogs welcome, off-leash OK on the trails.

Trail Notes:

Bob Pond is about 0.1 mile before the road ends at Borges Ranch. There are many trails here which provide for a variety of hikes of varying length and difficulty.

From 680 Fwy, take Ygnacio Valley Rd for 2.3 miles to Walnut Ave (not Blvd). Turn right and proceed for 1.6 miles to the traffic circle. Take 1st exit onto Oak Grove Rd and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area. From the east, take Ygnacio Valley Rd to Oak Grove Rd. Turn left and proceed for 1.0 mile to the traffic circle. Continue straight on Oak Grove and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area.
