Event Notes:

A moderate, partial-loop hike of about 6 miles and 1100-foot elevation gain. Route will be via Old Finley Road, Tassajara Creek Trail to the picnic table near Bobs Pond for a short rest/snack stop. Return via the Tassajara Creek, Highland Ridge Road, Crestview Road, Amphitheater Trail, Walnut Trail and Old Finley Road to the trailhead.. No facilities or water available on the hike. No dogs allowed because part of the hike is in Mt. Diablo State Park.

Trail Notes:

Explore this wilderness area located in the remote hills between Mt Diablo St Pk & Morgan Territory Regional Park. Access is via Finley Rd trailhead (east of Blackhawk). For seasoned hikers only, please! Not a beginner hike. Approximately 8 miles total distance, with moderate elevation gain and a moderate to brisk pace. Bring plenty of water and snacks. No water or facilities available.


Trailhead Directions:

Exit I-680 at Diablo Rd in Danville and go EAST towards Mt Diablo (away from downtown Danville...that would be LEFT from Southbound I-680 or RIGHT from Northbound I-680. Go EAST under freeway about ½ mi to "Y" in road. Take Right onto Camino Tassajara Rd. Stay on Camino Tassajara by turning LEFT at intersection with Sycamore Valley Rd. Follow Camino Tassajara east about 7 miles past Blackhawk and other housing developments. When you pass school on left, will become open space. Watch for Finley Rd & turn LEFT. Follow road about 2 miles & park alongside road. No parking within last ½ mile! If you see no parking signs, you have gone too far.
