These Event Notes supersede the Trail Notes. Two hikes in one. A shorter 6.5-mile, 1300-foot elevation gain loop hike or a longer 8.5-mile, 1750-foot elevation gain loop hike. While both start at Macedo Ranch outbound on the Wall Point Trail, the short hike descends the Secret Trail to Barbecue Terrace Road, Stage Road and Dusty Road back to Macedo Ranch. The long hike continues past the Secret Trail on Wall Point Road to Rock City, descends the Summit Trail to Live Oak Campground for a short rest/snack stop. Then returns to Macedo Ranch via the Summit Trail, Green Valley Trail and Green Valley Road. Water and restrooms at Macedo Ranch and Live Oak Campground. No dogs allowed in Mt. Diablo State Park.

Trail Notes:

About an 8-mile loop hike from Macedo Ranch to Rock City with an elevation gain estimate of 1300 feet. Route is from Macedo Ranch via Green Valley Rd, Green Valley and Summit Trails to Live Oak Campground and then on to Rock City. Return will be via Wall Point Rd to Macedo Ranch.

From the north, take 680S to the Stone Valley East exit and turn right on Stone Valley Rd. Drive 3.0 miles to Green Valley Rd (stop sign). Turn left on Green Valley Rd and drive 1.2 miles to the staging area at the end of the road. From the south, take 680N to Diablo Rd exit 39. Turn right on Diablo Valley Rd for .7 mile. Turn right to stay on Diablo Rd and drive .6 mile to Green Valley Rd. Turn left and drive 1.9 mile to the staging area at the end of the road.
