Event Notes:

A moderate 5-mile loop hike with approx 800 feet of elevation gain. Full facilities at both Castle Rock and Borges Ranch. Route from Castle Rock will be Stage Rd, Shell Ridge Loop, Buckeye Ravine, Briones Mt Diablo, and Borges Ranch Trails to the Ranch. After a short rest/snack stop, return via Borges Ranch, Briones Mt Diablo, Shell Ridge Loop Trails and Stage Rd to Castle Rock. Dog friendly, off-leash OK on the trails. For GPS users, Castle Rock address is 1700 Castle Rock Rd. Expect some mud. Heavy rain CANCELS.

From 24 Fwy take the I-680 N exit on the left toward SACRAMENTO/CONCORD and then exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. From 680 northbound exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. Turn right onto Ygnacio Valley Rd and drive 2.2 miles to Walnut Ave. Turn RIGHT on Walnut Ave and drive 1.6 miles to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Oak Grove Rd. From Ygnacio Valley Rd westbound, turn LEFT onto Oak Grove Rd and drive for 1.1 miles to the roundabout. At the roundabout Oak Grove Rd becomes Castle Rock Rd. Drive for 2.1 miles to the Park. Limited parking is available at the end of Castle Rock Rd but ther is additional parking at the Orchard Staging Area on the right before the end of the road
