Event Notes:
A moderate 5- to 6-mile loop hike in the Shell Ridge and Diablo Foothills Parks. Route from the Livorna trailhead will be via the Foothills, Hazard, Franco Ranch, Sugarloaf - Shell Ridge, Briones Mt Diablo, and Borges Ranch Trails to Borges Ranch. After a short rest/snack stop, return via Borges Ranch, Twin Ponds Loop, and Foothills Trails to the Livorna trailhead. No facilities at the trailhead, but full facilities at Borges Ranch. Dog friendly, off-leash OK on the trails.

Trail Notes:

An approximate 5-mile loop hike to Borges Ranch and return with about 750 feet of elevation gain. Mostly sun with some shaded areas. A midpoint stop at Borges Ranch which is equipped with covered picnic tables, water and restroom. No facilities at Livornia Staging Area. A hike of moderate difficulty. Dog friendly, off-leash OK on the trails.

Trailhead Directions:

From southbound 680 Fwy, exit at Livorna Rd and go east (left) on Livorna Rd. From northbound 680 Fwy, exit at Livorna Rd and go east (right) on Livorna Rd. Drive for 1.6 miles to the trailhead parking lot on the left.
