This is a SATURDAY hike. Most of this hike is at lake level as we circumnavigate in a counterclockwise direction. We meet at the Marina at the far end of the parking lot. Food, drinks and restrooms here. More shade than sun. There is one hill about halfway. We will rest after that at a grassy area that has a portapotty. There are also portapotties along the trail. Always keep the lake on you left. Park in the lot for $6 or for free in the street. This trail is dog friendly. It is a moderate hike because of distance.

Lake Chabot Reservoir was built in 1874-75 as a primary source of water for the East Bay. The 315-acre lake was closed to recreation for 91 years. Legislation passed in the 1960s opened the lake for controlled recreational uses. Currently, the lake serves as a standby emergency water supply. For this reason, visitors are asked to observe certain necessary regulations to keep the waters pure.
