Event Notes:

It is 8 miles with approximately 1200 ft. elevation gain. Hiking poles proved useful to those who brought them. We will start on Nimitz Way and descend on Laurel Canyon trail near the Tilden Nature Area designation and wind up on the Meadows Canyon Trail next to the restrooms and our vehicles at the end of these extraordinarily scenic 8 miles.

Trail Notes:

This is approximately 7 3/4 miles with some steepness so hiking poles or walking sticks are recommended if you use them. There is lots of shade, 2 lakes and a redwood grove with ferns and forget-me-nots, occasionally deer, a couple of hundred goats one time and often turtles sunbathing on lily pads. It is the perfect summer hike for those who missed getting to Costa Rica this year--just add a sloth and a couple of monkeys in the fern grove and Voila! Toilets at the parking lot and again at Lake Anza. Bring lots of water and some snacks or a light lunch. I LOVE THIS HIKE.
