Event Notes:

A moderate hike of 6.5 miles from Valle Vista in Moraga. Valle Vista is 7 miles on Moraga Road from 24. The trail takes us along the beautiful Upper San Leandro Reservoir. We are hiking this loop trail counter clockwise. We climb a hill and descend to the staging area. One Porta Potty and no water. There is a bench under a small tree that has an awesome view of the lake. I will bring a cooler with cold drinks. Feel free to do the same. If you have an EBMUD permit bring it, but it is not required. Permit holders are allowed guests. You do have to sign in your vehicle at the kiosk.

Trail Notes:

This is about a 6 mile hike and for the most part, just gradual inclines (mostly gently rolling hills), although there is a pretty tough 1 mile climb between miles 4 and 5. A hiking permit is required for this trail.

Trailhead Directions:

From Walnut Creek, take 24 to the Central Lafayette exit and make the first 2 immediate right turns off of 24. Make a right on Mt. Diablo Blvd. and a left on Moraga Road. Follow Moraga Road all the way to the Valle Vista Staging Area (about 5 miles). The staging area will be on the left.

Parking Fee: none
Other Fees: Permits cost $3/day, $10/1yr, $20/3yrs, $30/5yrs
