Four Peaks Hike

Trail Notes:

Starting from the usual trailhead at Mountaire Pkwy. we shall proceed up Mitchell Rock trail through a secret path straight up to Twin Peaks and quickly on to number 1 ( EAGLE PEAK ). This 2,369 elevation peak should take us about 1 to 1.5 hours. Time for breakfast.

From Eagle we fly to Murchio Gap, then to Deer Flat . We will continue on to Juniper Campground and then to number 2 (SUMMIT). Here we will have a hearty lunch (hope you brought one). It should take about 3.5-4 hours to the top, 3,849 ft-a great accomplishment, even if you've arranged to have your friends or relatives pick you up and drive you back home from there. We will stop here for lunch and plan on hiking on to another peak.

Next, we shall tour Devil's Pulpit to North Peak trail until we reach number 3 (NORTH PEAK). At 3,557 ft elevation we shall enjoy the view and start praying the sun doesn't go down too soon.

On to one of my favorite places on the Mountain, Olympia. At 2,946 Feet, with an awesome evening view we have arrived at number 4 (OLYMPIA). I hope the gods of Olympia give us good passage.

From Olympia we go, be it dusk or dark, to the trailhead, back at Mountaire Pkwy, to your car and back to civilization.

Trailhead Directions:

From Walnut Creek: From I-680 North or Hwy 24 East, exit at Ygnacio Valley Road. At bottom of offramp, turn right at stoplight onto Ygnacio Valley Road. Proceed on Ygnacio Valley Road to Clayton Road in Concord (approx 7.5 miles) and turn right (east).

From I-680 South, exit at Treat Blvd. Turn left at the stop light, then immediate left at the next stop light (Treat Blvd). Follow Treat all the way up the hill into Concord (approx 8 miles). Turn right onto Clayton Road.

Proceed downhill on Clayton Road into the town of Clayton. At stoplight, turn Right onto Marsh Creek Road. At 4-way stop, turn RIGHT onto MOUNTAIRE PKWY. Follow to the End.
