Event Notes:

This is an easy 4 mile hike in Brushy Peak that is ideal for folks just getting into hiking. It can get windy here so bring a jacket. Restroom and water at the parking lot. We hike on the Loop trail, return to the parking lot and then take the Laughlin Ranch Loop. Dog friendly on leash. Picnic tables at the parking lot.

Trail Notes:

This is an easy 4-mile hike with gradual elevation gain (~ 600ft), in grasslands. It is 100% sun. There is A picnic table about 1/2 mile before the end that we could have snacks. No water, but a nice restroom. There is also a nice picnic table about 0.5 miles before the finish. Bring food, nice views. Dogs allowed, on leash.


Trailhead Directions:

Take 580 to Vasco north. First right to Northfront Road, about 0.5 miles to a stop sign, and left to Laughlin Road.About 1.5 miles before the road becomes 1 lane. Not much traffic, but be careful. At the 2 mile mark, you are there on the right.

To get there from East Contra Costa County, drive south on Vasco Road. At the traffic light just before Interstate 580, turn left onto Northfront Road. In less than a mile, turn left again onto Laughlin Road. The park's staging area is two miles ahead, at the end of the road.
