disregard trails notes below....its still springtime in the park come enjoy the hills while they are still green this will be the last hike will be able to share with our lady friend from CANADA. this will be an easy moderate clockwise loop hike of 6 miles and perhaps 8-900ft gains... no fees for park entrance during the week. Andrew adds: Welcome back our Saskatchewan friend. She is only here for this week.

Trail Notes:

This is an 8 mile, 5 hour, difficult loop. Usually cold and muddy in winter and fall, this is a good summer hike.

From Hwy. 4 in Antioch, take Somersville Rd. exit and go south, staying in the left lane as you approach and pass Buchanan Rd. At 1.5 miles, follow Somersville Rd. as it continues straight, while the main road, now called James Donlon Blvd., bends sharply left. (There is a sign here that reads BLACK DIAMOND MINES REGIONAL PARK, and in about a mile for BLACK DIAMOND MINES REGIONAL PRESERVE; both refer to the same place.) At 2.6 miles from Hwy 4, you reach the entrance kiosk, park office, and emergency telephone; continue another .9 mile to a large parking area, right, with an overflow area, left.

Parking Fee: $5 when attended
Other Fees: $2 per dog
