Event Notes:

Well you asked for it so here it is!!! To the Summit we go! We'll be starting at the Castle Rock parking lot and heading up to the summit of Mt Diablo, via BBQ Terrace trail. This will be 12-14 miles with an elevation gain of 3300'. Im not sure where the water is along the route, so bring adequate fluids for a cold weather hike. (Ill bring an extra gallon or so just in case.) We'll have lunch somewhere along the route, so bring food and snacks. Plan on this trip taking about 7-8 hours.

Trail Notes:

This is an exploratory hike in that I'm not entirely sure of the mileage, but it is AT LEAST 15 MILES. Please only attempt this hike if you tolerate heat and distance well. In addition, there is a pretty steep climb up to BBQ Terrace - between 1000-1200 feet. We will start at Castle Rock park and go through the picnic area to the open space. We'll follow Old Stage Road to BBQ Terrace and then return via Wall Point Road back to Old Stage Road. Plan on at least 5 hours. We'll take a 15 minute break at BBQ Terrace for a snack and restroom breaks. Bring plenty of water. Hiking poles are recommended as are walkie talkies, GPS devices, and anything else you need to keep you safe.
