Sunol to Mission Peak

City: Sunol
Region: EastBay
Park: Sunol Regional Wilderness

Saturday, October 30, 2010 @ 9:30 AM

Event Notes:

This is a saturday hike. It is led by Trail Gail from East Bay Parks. 10+ miles, 2,200 ft of elevation, and about 5 hours. It would be rated 3B by the Sierra Club. Challenging. $6 parking fee and $2 Ohlone permit required. Gail will pause to allow the hikers to regroup. Use it to drink or snack. Heavy rain would cancel this hike, but not light rain.

Trail Notes:

This is a difficult hike. 10.5 miles and 2,200 feet of elevation gain. Shade to start but then it is all sun. It's similiar to hiking to Juniper Camp from Mitchell Canyon. Be prepared. Potties and water at the start. It's dog friendly, but I would be cautious. Fee for dogs $2. Hiking poles are a plus.

Trailhead Directions:

Exit 680 (either direction) at Calaveras Rd. From 680S you want to go under the frewway. From 680N you want to exit right. About 4 miles along Calaveras to Geary Rd. Take it into the Park. Watch out for bikers after 680. It is a winding road.

Parking Fee: $6
Other Fees: $2 Ohlone permit
