Event Notes:

doing the reverse loop route of last weeks hike Stewartville to ridge trail and back If it is clear we will see the Delta region and as far east as the Sierras. We will be taking a lunch/snack/rest break near there STEWARTVILLE TOWNSITE. Restrooms and water available at trail head, primitive toilet only at rest stop. dogs are permitted. APPX. 500/600ft elevation change disregard the previous trail notes below . 6+ miles for this hike

Trail Notes:

This is an 8 mile, 5 hour, difficult loop. Usually cold and muddy in winter and fall, this is a good summer hike.


Trailhead Directions:

From Hwy. 4 in Antioch, take Somersville Rd. exit and go south, staying in the left lane as you approach and pass Buchanan Rd. At 1.5 miles, follow Somersville Rd. as it continues straight, while the main road, now called James Donlon Blvd., bends sharply left. (There is a sign here that reads BLACK DIAMOND MINES REGIONAL PARK, and in about a mile for BLACK DIAMOND MINES REGIONAL PRESERVE; both refer to the same place.) At 2.6 miles from Hwy 4, you reach the entrance kiosk, park office, and emergency telephone; continue another .9 mile to a large parking area, right, with an overflow area, left.

Parking Fee: $5 when attended
Other Fees: $2 per dog
