Event Notes:

ignore the trail notes below.... This is a partial exploritory hike on a few trails I have not been yet, with other trails I have. This should be fairly easy with a few ups and downs and APPX; 4 1/2 miles no more than five (5) Will leave from the upper end of the paved parking lot. Starting out on the NortonVille trail we will stop off at Rose Hill Cemetery for some insight to the history of the park. We continue on exploring the Back Diamond Trail, Manhattan Canyon, Chaparral , Ridge, Carbondale and River View trails before returning to our cars.

Trail Notes:

We will be taking the StewartVille Trail just up from the paved staging area. This will be appx 7.5 mile fairly easy hike. There will be a couple of climbs maybe 400 ft? at the most to get over the passes. We will be hiking on fire roads and keep a fairly leisurely pace. There will be a snack stop near the old Stewartville town site. Proceeding on we will loop back on the Homestead, Lark and River View trails getting us back to the staging area. Bring water and snacks. Very little shade on this hike. Cautionary note: Rattle snakes are out now and we will be crossing fenced cattle areas.... dogs are allowed on the hike.
