Event Notes:

We will enjoy a few hours on the beautiful paved portion of the Iron Horse Trail. The air should be fresh and crisp. This is a wonderful time of the year to be on the trail.

Starting time will be 12:00 PM and round trip mileage is 5.5 miles. When we get to the main part of Danville (2.75 miles), we'll have coffee at Starbucks.

The Iron Horse Trail is all pavement and completely flat so all you need to bring is water, sweater/jacket, and umbrella in case it rains. We should be back around 3 pm. There are restrooms at the railroad museum in Danville, Starbucks and at the Safeway in Alamo. Note:This is not a dog friendly hike.

From Highway 680, exit Alamo/Stone Valley Road. Go west on Stone Valley Road. When you reach the stop light at Danville Boulevard continue straight through the stop light. You will still be on Stone Valley Road. You have two choices for parking. You can either park at the staging area for the Iron Horse Trail. There are only a few spaces and they are usually taken. A better choice is to park in the Safeway parking lot at Alamo Plaza. Day parking for the Iron Horse Trail is permitted in this lot. It will be on your right. When you turn into the shopping center parking lot, you will want to turn left into the first rows of parking. Then walk back to the sidewalk on Stone Valley Road and walk west a few hundred feet to the staging area by the Iron Horse Trail. There are a few benches and a drinking fountain. We will meet there.

Parking Fee: None
