Event Notes:

We will hike a different route. The loop trail just opened. It is beautiful. You have to see it. Howard and I previewed it today. Almost 5 miles and 800 feet of elevation gain. A moderate hike. The scenery is spectacular. It is dog friendly, and also very sunny.

Trail Notes:

This is an easy 4-mile hike with gradual elevation gain (~ 600ft), in grasslands. It is 100% sun. There is A picnic table about 1/2 mile before the end that we could have snacks. No water, but a nice restroom. There is also a nice picnic table about 0.5 miles before the finish. Bring food, nice views. Dogs allowed, on leash.

Trailhead Directions:

Take 580 to Vasco north. First right to Northfront Road, about 0.5 miles to a stop sign, and left to Laughlin Road.About 1.5 miles before the road becomes 1 lane. Not much traffic, but be careful. At the 2 mile mark, you are there on the right.

To get there from East Contra Costa County, drive south on Vasco Road. At the traffic light just before Interstate 580, turn left onto Northfront Road. In less than a mile, turn left again onto Laughlin Road. The park's staging area is two miles ahead, at the end of the road.
