Event Notes:

Hey my friends, I am just the facilitator. The hike will be lead by Judith. This is her first hike as the Leader, so please come out and show your support. She will be supported by co leaders. This is a doable hike. My tendency is to make it sound too difficult. It isn't. If you can hike up to Deer Flat, you can do this. Please contact me with your questions. Contact Judith with your congratulations. After the hike we will snack at Juniper Camp. Bring goodies to share.

Trail Notes:

The distance is about 6 miles and the elevation gain is approximately 2,000 ft. I rate the hike as moderate plus. It is not easy because of the elevation gains. Experienced hikers only. We take Juniper trail to the Summit parking lot. Descend to Devils Elbow and left on North Peak trail to Prospectors Gap trail. Left to Meridian to Deer Flat. We will rest here and then left on Deer Flat to Juniper Camp. Restrooms and water at Juniper Camp.

Trailhead Directions:

From Walnut Creek, exit Ygnacio Valley at either Walnut Ave. or Oak Grove Rd. Continue on until it becomes North Gate Rd. Pay the $6 entrance fee and continue on about 10 miles to Juniper Camp and the Overlook on your left. From San Ramon take 680 North to El Cerro Blvd. Exit right and continue on. It becomes Blackhawk Rd. After about 4 miles you come to Mt Diablo Scenic Blvd. on your left (not a cross street and easy to miss). Turn left. It soon becomes South Gate Rd. Continue on about 1.5 miles and pay the $6 entrance fee. Continue on about 6 miles to Juniper Camp Overlook on your left.

Parking Fee: $6
