Oyster Point is notable for its ancient oyster shells, dating back millions of years to a time when Mount Diablo was beneath the ocean floor.

From the North, take Route 680 South toward San Jose. Take the Diablo Road exit toward Danville. Keep left at the fork and follow signs for Mount Diablo State Park. Turn left at Diablo Road. Turn right to stay on Diablo Road. From the South, take 680 North toward Sacramento. Exit on Diablo Road. Turn right at Diablo Road. Turn right to stay on Diablo Road. Turn left at Mount Diablo Scenic Blvd. Follow the road to the South Gate Entrance to Mount Diablo State Park. Pay the $6 entry fee at the entrance. Continue for about a mile, passing the service yard and picnic area. Curry Point has a paved parking turn-out on the right.
