Event Notes:

Finish it Up Hike

NOTE EARLIER START TIME!! Help Steve finish his last trails to complete Garin/Dry Creek Parks! Join us for a forecasted cooler day at9:00 am. A hiker's choice of a moderate+ 6.5 mile/1300' hike or a 9.4 mile/1900' challenging one.

We will gather at the southern parking lot, first right after the entry kiosk. The hike starts on a connector then straight on Carol Severin Loop along Jordan Pond, right on High Ridge Loop, left on Ridge View, left on Dry Creek and back on Carol Severin Loop on the other side of Jordan Pond. Continue then right up the steep High Ridge Loop fire road. Left on Newt Pond Trail, left Old Homestead, right Vista Peak Loop, right on Vista Peak Loop, left on Vista Peak Loop. All hikes snack under the trees near Vista Peak. Continue to the next intersection where the hikes split. The short hike turns left on Vista Peak loop, then right on Vista Peak loop, then another right on (you guessed it) Vista Peak Loop. Follow back toward the big red barn and check out the museum before heading back into the parking area.

The long hike turns right on Vista Peak Loop at the split, then right on Ziele Creek, then right on Garin Woods, and stay right and high on the upper Garin Woods trail. Turn right again on Garin Woods, then left on Ziele Creek Trail, left at the end by the roundabout on Ziele Creek, then left again on Garin Woods Trail, this time taking the left on lower Garin Woods trail. Continue straight back out to Ziele Creek again, this time turning right. Turn left on Vista Peak Loop, then left on Vista Peak Loop, then (you guessed it) right on Vista Peak loop. Follow back toward the big red barn and check out the museum before heading back into the parking area.

Please note: This group does not stay together on the hike instead relying on arrows put on the ground with flour to mark turns. You are encouraged to stay with others who are hiking your speed and you should also carry the trail route map (link above) either downloaded to your phone or in paper form.
