Event Notes:

Beat the Heat Bay Trail Hike

A moderate 6.9 mile, 700 ft stroll along the SF Bay Trail and a bit of up and down in EBRPD Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline. We'll visit all the highlights including Ferry Point, False Gun, and Nicholl Knob, as well as a view across to the Red Oak Victory Ship.

Our route will start from the first parking lot, across the street from Richmond Ramblers Motorcycle Clubhouse, along the SF Bay Trail to Ferry Point. We will continue on the Bay Trail/Brickyard Cove Road to Point Potrero to a lookout on the Bay. Doubling back to take the Bay Trail along Canal Blvd to 500 ft past Seacliff Dr to East Trail. (Look for the single track after 340 feet. Do not continue up the paved fire road.) Following East Trail to ascend Crest Trail to False Gun for a snack stop and great view of the bay. We then descend on West Ridge Trail to West Ridge Point where we pick up Old Country Road Trail.

After traversing the park on Old Country Road we ascend to the North on Crest Trail to Nicholl Knob. We then go down the hill to Marine View Trail back to Old Country Road, up and over the Dornan Drive tunnel to descend to the SF Bay Trail back to the Parking Lot.
